One model for decisions, quantities, and modules.

Building information modelling is the digital record of the physical and functional parts of a project. For Murphy Prime it is the basis for decisions across the life of the job: shorter delivery, clearer cooperation between trades, and a lower construction cost when clashes are found on screen.

The BIM journey started in 2014. After a planned rollout, the practice became one of the MEP contractors that actually runs projects this way. BIM here is a method for getting the right information to the right people while it is still accurate, not a file that is exported for a submission and then ignored.

Prefabrication depends on it. Modules are modelled and coordinated before they are manufactured. During construction, the commercial team takes quantities from the Revit model so forecasts match the design instead of a separate takeoff. The aim is simple: build the job once digitally, then build it once in the field.

Coordination

Shop drawings come from the design model, so clashes are settled before fabrication.

Quantities

Commercial forecasts are extracted from Revit, not redrawn in a spreadsheet.

Modules

Prefab geometry is the same geometry the site crew will set out.

Training

Software, hardware, and staff training stay on the annual investment list.
