Design and build, so the budget is tested before the steel is.
More than half of Murphy Prime Construction’s work is design and build. The rest is traditional build-only. The practice entered the market as an engineering, procurement, and construction contractor so an owner could award early and still know whether the budget was real.
In a build-only award, design gaps often surface after the contract is signed, and the owner pays for them. On a Murphy Prime design-build package, the in-house engineering team leads the design, checks the client’s requirements against cost and time, and says so if the number does not hold.
Over a decade of EPC delivery, the office has kept improving how that handoff works: selecting engineers for the package, training the crew, and using virtual reality, 4D simulation, laser setting-out, and photogrammetry so the design the owner approved is the design that gets built.
